How to Jump a Quarter Pipe
- 1). Build up to a comfortable speed on your BMX bike or skateboard heading straight towards the quarter pipe.
- 2). Position your feet to prepare for an ollie or bunny hop. For a skateboard ollie, position your back foot on the tail of the board and your front foot just behind the front trucks. To bunny hop, position your feet on the pedals at equal height with one foot in front of the other.
- 3). Bend your knees as your reach the front of the quarter pipe. Lean back as the grade of the ramp becomes steeper.
- 4). Ollie or bunny hop at the crest of the quarter pipe. Press down on the tail of the skateboard and drag your front foot forward to ollie off the top of the quarter pipe. Pull up on the handle bars at the top of the ramp and level out the bike in the air to bunny hop your BMX.
- 5). Rotate your body 180 degrees to face the direction of the ramp as you return to the quarter pipe. Turn your shoulders, which ever direction you feel comfortable, to face down the ramp.
- 6). Land with both wheels or sets of wheels at the same time on the quarter pipe. Point the nose of the board or bike down so that, when you land, you will ride on the face of the quarter pipe. Keep your knees bent and ride away.
