There are ski resorts all over the world that, for decades, have catered to skiers. However, with the invention of the snowboard, and its subsequent rise in popularity, many resorts have had to tailor their designs toward both skiers and snowboarders. This has meant the addition of many beginner-to-insane-level terrain parks, bowls, half-pipes and superpipes, as well as wide trails with adequate carving-space. And, as snowboarding grows ever more popular, as both a recreational and extreme sport, some resorts have become famous for their particular appeal to snowboarders. - Located in Big Sky, Montana, Big Sky Resort offers some of the most spacious runs, divided among three adjacent mountains. Winner of the 2009 OnTheSnow Visitors Choice Award, this resort features a 2,000-vertical-foot bowl and four different terrain parks, each catering to different skill-levels. And, with the "Biggest Skiing in America" pass, you can access all of the lifts and runs at both Big Sky and Moonlight Basin Resort---a total of over 5,000 acres of skiing/snowboarding trails. In addition, Big Sky prides itself on providing "lots of elbow room," with little or no lift lines. The resort also features a wide variety of hotel, cabin and condo rental options.
