A Story From My Previous Dating Service - How Not to Get Taken Advantage of in a Relationship

At my previous dating service, I had a client named Sherry.
She was in her early 40's and recently divorced.
Typically, I would find it challenging to set up someone like her, but guys seemed to go crazy for her.
She was sweet and put herself together well.
Guys liked her makeup, her stylish hair and her flirty outfits.
I set her up with a great guy, Charles.
When I met with her to ask how the date went, she said Charles was "a nice guy" but she met another guy, Roberto at the grocery store.
She decided to date Roberto, and I was very happy for her.
About two weeks later, Sherry called me to tell me that she was moving to Mexico with Roberto because he was being deported after getting 4 DUIs and a felony larceny charge.
She said things might be complicated because he has a wife in Mexico, and he had a wife in the US as well.
Sherry assured me that Roberto really loved her and his criminal record was a result of racist law enforcement.
Plus, she said no one had ever made her feel the way he did.
I had a feeling her plans to flee the country would fall through, and I later found out that my hunch was right.
The whole scenario reminded me of something very important-don't get too wrapped up in what your date says.
Actions speak louder than words.
It's easy to talk, but you can tell someone's real intentions from his or her actions.
After her divorce, Sherry was desperate for compliments, and Roberto gave them to her.
He told her he loved her.
He told her she was beautiful.
But, if he really loved her he would have acted on it and not continued his relationship with his other wives.
His actions showed that she was just another woman to him.
Before you commit to someone (or move to Mexico), close your ears and observe what they do.
You'll be a lot better off.
