How to Wear a R.O.T.C Uniform?
- 1). Groom hair in a neat fashion. Wear no hair style where bangs drape into the eyes or hair touches the shoulder. Trim all facial hair according to ROTC unit standards and ensure that any dyed hair contains only natural colors. Wear eyeglasses, if necessary, with conservative frames -- no gaudy or "trendy" looks.
- 2). Take off all jewelry and watches before putting on an ROTC uniform unless they are authorized by commanders. Remove all civilian clothes before putting garments on and wear only clean and ironed uniforms. Snip off unsightly garment threads with fabric scissors. Remove any and all bulky objects from pants pockets -- including wallets and checkbooks. Cover all tattoos on your body.
- 3). Stand with your head up and shoulders back at all times. Hold your chest out high and tighten your abdominals as a presentation of honor and strength. Keep your hands out of your pockets and avoid crossing your arms.
- 1). Dress in standard issue boots and woodland-pattern button-up shirts, pants and cap. Wear a standard issue brown t-shirt underneath the button-up shirt. Tuck t-shirt in and leave button-up untucked.
- 2). Wear a black belt with a dull buckle. Place olive green tube socks over your feet before putting on and fully lacing boots. Tuck the bottoms of each pants leg into the boots.
- 3). Position patches 1/2-inch below the shoulder on left and right shoulders. Align the patches with the bottom of your button-up shirt collar. Drape dog tags around your neck and tuck them under your t-shirt. Check to see that your embroidered name tag is spelled correctly and 4 1/2-inches wide, positioned just above the button-up shirt pocket. Position collar insignias at center on the left and right collar and align all insignias vertically.
- 1). Dress in standard issue shoes and olive green woolen coat, button-up shirt, pants or skirt and garrison cap. Wear a standard issue brown olive green shirt underneath the button-up shirt. Tuck in all shirts.
- 2). Wear a black belt with a polished brass buckle. Place black dress socks over your feet before putting on black Oxford dress shoes or heels. Check to see your woolen coat sleeves hang 1-inch beneath the wrist.
- 3). Position brass insignia and branch discs 1-inch above each lapel -- at center. Place the insignia disc on the right lapel and the branch disc on the left. Center unit crests on shoulder loops, aiming outward to the right or left. Position regimental crests 1/8 to 1/4-inch higher than the right pocket. Pin name plates onto the right pocket flap.
- 4). Position ribbons at center 1/8-inch higher than the left pocket. Center special skills badges 1/4-inch over ribbons. Place marksmanship badges 1/8-inch beneath the left pocket seam -- at center.
