Who doesn't like to be right? And one recommendation I have been giving out is being reinforced by more and more research...
You need social support if you are going to try losing weight.
Today, I am going to show you a study proving social support as an even more powerful tool than I originally thought.
Researchers from Ohio, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Arkansas teamed up to find out  if a fat loss program given to one spouse would have a "take home" effect and produce beneficial results for the other spouse.
Over a year period 357 diabetic patients were treated.
The participants were divided into 2 groups.
The first group was given standard diabetic treatment, while the second group was given intensive lifestyle intervention.
The ILI group saw their spouses lose 4.
9 pounds during the treatment period without having any contact with researchers.
Spouses of the subjects receiving standard care only lost .
51 pounds.
What's more spouses of ILI group lose 5% of their bodyweight when compared to the standard care group (26% vs.
9%).
One of the major reasons for the increased weight loss for the ILI spouses is the fact they ate dramatically less fat than the spouses in the standard care group.
Not surprisingly, participant weight loss was directly correlated with participant weight loss.
So, if you husband was in the study and lost weight, the greater chance you would have had in losing weight too.
If you are serious about taking back control of your families health just start making changes to your own fitness and nutrition plan, and you will be able to bring your family right along with you.
