How to Remove Mold & Mildew From Bathroom Wallpaper
- 1). Wipe off removable mildew with a soft, dry cloth. Touch the wallpaper to check for dampness. If it is damp, you should dry it before cleaning it--otherwise, it may loosen from the wall. To dry the wallpaper, heat the room using a portable heater, or turn up the heat in the whole house.
- 2). Put on rubber gloves. Pour 1 tsp. of hand soap on a sponge. Dampen the sponge under warm water and squeeze it to spread the soap over the surface.
- 3). Gently scrub the sponge over the mildewed areas of wallpaper. Rinse out the sponge and wipe the damp, rinsed sponge over the paper to rinse off the soap.
- 4). Treat remaining mildew stains with bleach. Mix 1 quart of bleach with a gallon of water in a bucket.
- 5). Dip a sponge in the bucket and squeeze it out. Wipe it over the mildew stained area. Rinse out the sponge after and wipe the area again to remove the bleach.
- 1). Press the wallpaper dough to the mildew-stained areas.
- 2). Roll the dough over the surface to pick up the stain.
- 3). Turn the dough to a clean side and continue rolling it over the wallpaper surface until all stains are gone.
- 4). Wipe the wall with a damp cloth.
