Eric is on the receiving end of ultimate betrayal when he learns that Ridge and Steffy are plotting to take over Forrester Creations with the help of Bill Spencer's stock in order to oust Rick out of the CEO position. Eric threatens to ask the employees to walk off their jobs. He asks if Ridge and Steffy can sew? Carter has an unexpected gift for Nicole after she confesses her guilt for everything that has happened to Maya.

She looks in the envelope and realizes Maya left her money, but she doesn't want the money, she wants her sister. She tells Carter that she told Rick where Maya is hiding out. Carter says Rick is the only one who can get her to stay. Rick gets the opportunity to explain his side of the story to Maya about what happened in Big Bear. He tells her that he didn't hang up on her question on the phone. He never heard it because he had a car accident. He tells Maya he loves her. He gets a call from Eric about what Ridge is up to and tells Maya he has to go to the office. She tells him, she will wait for him. Ivy confides in Katie her concern regarding Steffy’s return to Los Angeles.

Rick and Eric strategize and weigh their options on how to outsmart Ridge in his attempted takeover of the company.  Rick discovers that Bill didn't transfer his stock to Liam, so he wants to approach Bill to vote with Eric and him -- even though he knows it is a long shot. Eric tells Rick to slow down.

Getting in business with Bill Spencer is a dangerous thing. Rick says he knows but he refuses to capitulate to Ridge. Eric asks how Rick can do business with Bill after the expose he did on Maya.  Katie puts Liam on the spot when she inquires about how he feels regarding Steffy being back in town, and asks how it will be working with Steffy and dating Ivy.  Steffy gives Ivy a reason to worry as she reminds her cousin about her personal and professional history with Liam. Ivy tells Steffy she will make a great president of Forrester. Steffy digs at her by saying with Liam as her VP, it will be a big help. Ivy tells Steffy she doesn't have a problem with her working with Liam. What she does have is a problem with Steffy making a play for Liam. Ridge assures Caroline that they will be able to spend more time together once the takeover is complete. Rick confronts Bill about what he did to Maya. Bill says it was a business decision. Rick says he has already seen the backlash to Spencer Publications from the transgender stories. Rick tells him he has a business proposition that Bill isn't going to want to turn down. He lays out the plan and tells Bill that he would no longer be persona non gratis, plus he would be able to pick Forrester's next president. Bill asks, even him? Rick says yes. Then Ridge would have to answer to Bill. Rick asks: Who would Bill rather team up with – Eric and Rick or Ridge?

Rick pushes Bill for an answer, but Bill doesn't given him a decision. Bill is elated knowing that he holds all of the cards  in the power-play for Forrester Creations Creations. Ridge calls a meeting at Forrester, and Rick leaves Bill to head back to his office. Ivy and Steffy await Liam’s answer to the questions regarding which of them truly holds the key to his heart. Ridge vows to assist Caroline in getting back on her feet and promises to be there for her therapy.  Seeing that Maya’s situation has changed, Nicole hopes that her sister will be more forgiving about having her trust betrayed. Bill walks in on the meeting and Rick makes one last desperate attempt to keep Ridge from taking over the company.

Ridge is stunned by the extent that Rick went to in order to prevent him from becoming the new CEO of the company. Bill gives Ridge a chance to kiss up to him, but Ridge refuses. Nick is once again a great comfort for Maya as she awaits word from Rick regarding what the future may hold for the two of them. Maya is second guessing herself. She should have told Rick sooner. She should have trusted him. If she had done that, Rick wouldn't have been blindsided.Wyatt becomes resentful about Liam’s involvement in the fight for Forrester Creations. He feels that he should be made the vice president if the hostile takeover works. Wyatt feels he knows more about fashion than Liam -- even though Liam runs a fashion magazine -- and he was the one who had to do the dirty work and get the secret out of Nicole. Before announcing his decision, Bill tells Liam how proud he was of how he handled this whole deal, but when Ridge refuses to try to convince Bill come over to his side, Bill makes a decision to assist  Rick, but with one significant stipulation -- Maya has to go as lead model. Rick defends Maya. Bill says that Maya's continued presence will cost the company money, and the bottom line is the bottom line. There is a part of their customer base that thinks that Maya is a disgrace. At that point, Rick punches Bill in the face. Rick says Bill is a disgrace and walks out of the office. Ridge is shocked that Rick chose Maya over the company. Rick tells Maya that he walked away from his job because Bill no longer wanted Maya there, so he punched him.

Word gets out around the Forrester Creations offices about the outcome of Rick and Ridge’s struggle for the position of CEO. Aly breaks the news to Oliver that Rick is out and Ridge is in. Taking a step back to observe the interaction between Liam and Steffy, Ivy becomes extremely uncomfortable with their closeness. To ensure that her relationship with Liam remains strong, Ivy encourages Wyatt to ask Steffy out. Rick tells Maya that love makes you do crazy things. Maya says that he has always wanted to be CEO. She can't believe he gave it up for her. Now, she's starting to realize how much she means to him. Maya reflects on how different things would have turned out for her and Rick if she had disclosed sooner. Aly gets concerned when she sees Steffy kissing Liam and points out that Steffy is no longer Liam's wife or even his girlfriend. She tells Steffy that Liam is with Ivy, who is a much more appropriate woman for him to be with. Even though Steffy defends herself to Aly, when Aly leaves, it is obvious that what Aly said about Ivy having more class than her bothers Steffy. Ivy tells Liam about her plan for Wyatt to ask out Steffy.
