Camping offers the opportunity to rediscover your humble self and to reconnect with nature. To go camping, a place and some information is all that is needed. You will find a collection of great tips that will assist you in enjoying your camping experience. Take some time to read through them now!

Look for where you're going to set up your shelter before darkness falls. Once blackness falls out there in the woods, it can be extremely difficult to pitch a tent, find good firewood and prepare food. This is particularly true for anyone accustomed to city living and unfamiliar with pitch dark woods. Avoid being in that position; find good shelter before the sun goes down.

Carry a survival kit on your person. This kit should feature a survival knife, waterproof matches, tablets for purifying water, a flare gun, and a first-aid kit. This kit can keep you alive! Your kit should not be left behind at the camp site, but should be carried with you wherever you go.

Pack your camping supplies in advance of your trip. Forgetting your sleeping bag or food is not what you want to happen. Use a check list that you can use to double check, to be sure that you have everything before you leave home.

While kids love camping, they need to have activities planned for them. Your kids may start to get bored when you are out in the woods. They have probably never fished or set up tents. If they aren't used to camping activities, teach them before you leave.

If you bring along a canine companion on your trip, keep your pet leashed and watch him or her closely. Other campers might be fearful of your dog, no matter how friendly he might be. You should respect your fellow campers in the area. Furthermore, dogs could cause a lot of damage to your campsite, or someone else's, if they are not properly supervised.

Bringing everything you need for your trip is important. Unfortunately, forgetting one or two key items can ruin your trip. It is best to create a list a few weeks before your trip and to use it while packing. You need to include things like; hand sanitizer, fire starters, utility knife, water, tarps, sleeping bags, tents and prepared foods.

Your trip can be wonderful if you are aware of what to do. Camping can also teach you a lot about yourself. Use the wisdom gleaned from these ideas to plan your own enjoyable camping trips that will create memories for years.
