First it is important to pick up at the right time as picking it up too early will result in rotting.
Then check the size to ensure that the desired design fits well onto the pumpkin.
Then, it is essential to gather all the tools required for pumpkin carving.
The most essential requirements are poker tool to transfer design, grease pencil to make a freehand carving, gutting spoons to scoop out seeds, pulp, and skin from inside, and cutting saw for carving detailed areas.
After that plan the design and make a stencil of the same.
Cut the top of the pumpkin and gut out all the seeds, pulp, and extra skin from within.
Stick the prepared stencil onto the pumpkin using a cello tape.
Then transfer the pattern using an appropriate tool and be careful while transferring the design because a small mistake will hamper the feel and look of the entire design.
Remove the stencil and carve with the carving tool along the sides of the transferred pattern.
Carefully run the saw or the tool along the lines and once completed push the pieces and discard them.
Paint the design or decorate it with whatever desired.
Place a candle holder in the inside and light a candle to give form to an attractive glowing jack-o-lantern.
