How to Remove Melted Candle Wax From Fabric
- 1). Place fabric, with the candle wax stain facing up, on a hard surface. Gently scrape at the candle wax with a butter knife. Remove as much of the wax as you can without pulling at the fabric.
- 2). Heat an iron to the warm setting. Lay one white paper towel on the ironing board. Place the fabric on the paper towel with the candle wax stain facing down. Place another paper towel on the back of the stain. Run the warm iron over the paper towel. The warmth from the iron softens the wax, allowing it to deposit onto the paper towels. Remove as much of the softened wax as possible with the paper towels.
- 3). Apply laundry detergent to the stain. Place the fabric in the washer and launder at the hottest water temperature the fabric allows. Inspect the stain after washing and before drying.
- 4). Mix a solution of two parts water and one part rubbing alcohol. Apply to any remaining candle wax stain left on the fabric. Allow the alcohol solution to remain on the stain for 10 minutes, then rinse in cool water.
- 5). Fill a sink with 2 inches of warm water and a squirt of dish detergent. Apply this to the stain on the fabric along with three or four drops of ammonia. Blot at the stain with a white cloth. Continue blotting, removing the stain completely. Launder normally with ½ cup of all-fabric bleach.
