- The San Diego Convention Center, located right between San Diego Bay and East Harbor Drive, hosts a wide variety of events, including, for more than 40 years, the massive Comic Con International. One of the largest convention centers in California, this 2.6 million-square-foot venue boasts 72 meeting rooms, two ballrooms and more than 525,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space. If you're one of the millions of guests that visit the San Diego Convention Center each year, you'll find numerous hotels within easy walking distance.
- The San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina sits just to the right of the San Diego Convention Center, with a 446-slip marina that stretches out behind it. The hotel's twin, 25-story towers feature a stunning 1,362 nonsmoking guest rooms and suites, looking out to both the city and the bay. Aside from the rooms, the hotel features an extensive fitness center and two giant outdoor pools. If you get hungry, the ground floor contains three restaurants and a Starbucks. As of 2010, room rates start at $199 per night.
- On the opposite side of the Marriott from the convention center, Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego offers nearly 125,000 square feet of its own convention/event space. Like the Marriott, this hotel also features two giant towers (though not twins), and each of the 1,625 guest rooms and suites offers at least a partial city or bay view. The hotel's fourth-floor pool and barbecue area offers a panoramic view of both the city and the bay. The hotel also has on-site tennis courts, a fitness center and a full-service spa/salon. As far as dining goes, the hotel features numerous on-site bars and restaurants, including one on the bay. As of 2010, room rates start at $203 per night.
- Located just steps from the San Diego Convention Center, on its left-hand side, the Hilton San Diego Bayfront features more than 2,000 guest rooms and suites. With rates as low as $126 per night and as high as $244 per night (as of 2010), this hotel offers more variety among its room styles than most area hotels. In addition to the 30-story main tower, which houses all of the rooms, the hotel features four restaurants, a full-service spa/fitness center, 4.3-acre waterfront promenade/park and, according to the Hilton website, "San Diego's first and only saltwater hotel pool."
