    • Exercise is an excellent natural way to help combat depression. Along with the physical health benefits offered by exercise, studies have shown physical activity can improve mood and brighten one's outlook. If you are not currently involved in an exercise routine, the key to sticking with it is finding an activity you truly enjoy. Walking or hiking, ice skating or rollerblading, aerobics or dance classes are fun ways to engage in exercise and boost your mood naturally.

    Pursue a passion or interest you may not have done before

    Spend time with others-don't isolate yourself

    • Even if it's difficult, force yourself to make time to spend with friends, small children and even elderly relatives or neighbors. Volunteer your time to help others who may be less fortunate. Plan a day trip or weekend getaway to a place you may not have had an opportunity to visit before. Keeping company with others who are fun and engaging is a natural way to help combat your depression.

    Consider natural remedies

    • Instead of an antidepressant medication, some people will try St. John's Wort, a natural, easy-to-find supplement which can help boost one's mood. Vitamin B and iron can also aid in the process. Talk to your physician or pharmacist about natural supplements that may be right for you.
