Back to the Cheatin’ Heart

Max looks over blueprints for the fuels project, sharing with Chelsea how Titan has a security breach and is missing files. He locks them away in the safe. Chelsea has a phone number from a guy and says she didn’t want to hurt the guy’s feelings. She then smiles how jealous Max is when he asks for the phone number. She wads it up, tosses it aside, then kisses him.

Brady Pub

Melanie is on her laptop when Brady approaches her. She wonders if her project is really DOA. She then asks if the computer system is up and running at Titan and if he has her project. “No, no, and no. It’s a total disaster Melanie,” he replies. She isn’t happy to hear this. He wonders why she’s so concerned, sarcastically questioning if it’s because of her undying loyalty to Titan. She wonders what’s with the attitude after thinking they were friends. She assumes that he suspects her. Brady accuses her of being in bed with the DiMeras. She refers to this as insane.

Brady soon encounters someone named Travis and thanks him for coming into work early, then leaves.

DiMera Mansion

Nicole is lying in bed with E.J. when she answers her phone to Philip. “What the hell do you want?” she demands. Philip thought she was going to keep an eye on E.J. for him. Nicole says they’ll talk about it later, but Philip affirms that they’ll discuss it now. He warns her that it’s payback time since E.J. screwed him over.

Nicole insists that it’s not a good time. Philip refers to the recent ordeal at Titan as industrial espionage at it’s finest, which means the DiMeras are involved. He threatens to tell E.J. everything he knows about her “sleazy affair with Brady,” then hangs up on her.

Nicole later sneaks around in the dark, trying not to awaken E.J.. He wakes up and asks where she’s going. She claims she’s out of formula and wants to get to the store before Sydney wakes up. He encourages her to let Mary get it, insisting that Sydney doesn’t need it urgently. He smiles and kisses her, trying to get her back into bed. She insists that she really needs to get to the store, so E.J. proceeds to get Mary. Nicole protests, claiming that Mary always gets the formula wrong. Sydney awakens and Nicole assures him that she’ll be back soon, then leaves the bedroom.

Nicole comes downstairs and leaves a message for Brady, insisting that she’s in major trouble with Philip.

Melanie comes over to the mansion and confronts E.J. over the fuels project being destroyed. He declares that his family is no longer involved in the project and she calls him a two-faced bastard. She yells that he never intended to develop this project in the first place. E.J. claims he has no idea what she’s talking about. She accuses him of playing her and making her jump through all these hoops to steal the formula for him. Tony listens to the commotion from the other room. E.J. laughs that she forgot the formula and suggests that she go talk to Nick. She asserts that it’s not over by a longshot. E.J. demands for her to get out, then grabs her and pushes her out the door. After E.J. heads upstairs, Tony follows Melanie outside and asks her if she’s alright, hoping they could have some benefit to each other.

Brady and Nicole

Brady meets Nicole on the pier, recalling how her voice mail sounded frantic. She fears that she’s in way over her head, predicting that because of the chaos with the fuels project, Philip will tell E.J. about their “affair.” She fears that E.J. won’t stop digging and digging until he finds out that she lied about the pregnancy and Sydney, then her life will be over and she’ll lose everything. Brady promises not to let that happen. He encourages her to go home to her daughter and leave the rest to him. “You are such an amazing friend,” she smiles, then gives him a brief smooch.

Back at Titan

Stephanie brings a frustrated Philip caffeine and wonders if they have a hard copy of the fuels project somewhere. “If I had a hard copy, why the hell would I sit in front of my computer? You think I’m a complete idiot?” he retorts. Steph apologizes for being lame. Philip states that someone burned the only hard copy they had. She questions what Bo said. A not so charming Philip wonders if she actually thinks he’d tell his brother about this. He predicts that Victor would immediately bounce him out on his butt once he found out what went down. Steph tries to assure Philip that none of this was his fault and wonders if there’s the slightest chance that Victor will understand. “Are you joking? He nearly fired me for my tie being crooked,” responds Philip.

Philip laments letting Victor and Steph down. He apologizes to her for being a complete fool and probably blowing his entire career. She assures him that it’s okay to be vulnerable, admitting that this is the Philip she’s comfortable with. He thinks they have to end it now. Steph laughs at Philip, noting how he’s all sad and vulnerable, then the minute she calls him on it he turns into “Robo Philip.” He deduces that she wants him to be something he’s not. She wonders if Victor taught him that it’s considered weak to be scared, to not know all the answers, and to screw up once in a while. Philip confirms that his father did teach him those things. Steph counters that it’s not weak, but human. He admits that he’s scared out of his wits. She assures him that they’re in this together and she’ll help him, which means she wants to give them another shot.

He goes back over to his computer and she encourages him to relax, then kisses him. He suggests forgetting about viruses and worms for now and getting out of there. She proceeds to grab her purse and he says he’ll be right out.

Kiriakis Mansion

Philip and Stephanie later sit by the fire. She admits that she thinks about what it would be like if they were together for a long time. He thinks about their future together, then sighs how she deserves better. She tries to assure him that he’s a good person and believes the reason he’s so hard on himself is because Victor’s so hard on him. She refers to him as caring, sensitive, and sweet, which means he has a good heart.
