Go Deep Inside Your Walls: What Causes Wall Damages And How Do You Fix Them?
There are 2 main contributors to wall damages, natural and man-made. Natural causes include hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, termites, and poor soil foundation brought by flood. Man-made causes are brought about by accidents, fires, explosions, and cracks in floors and foundation brought by substandard cement. More than half of the total percentage of wall damages is blamed on natural causes though.
In your own homes, you sometimes take your walls for granted. Over the years you realize that your walls were a canvass of smeared paint, nail holes, fingerprints, mildew, and adhesives. You know that damages caused by nature can wreck your wall totally. But man-made damages can also pose a serious threat, no matter how tiny they are.
If you have wooden walls and you see holes other than the ones created for hanging paintings and such, that suggests the presence of termites. Wooden walls are prone to termite damage and when you notice real small holes that were not there before, it is surely a cause for alarm. Have it checked immediately and take the necessary steps to fix the problem. Termites feast on anything including wood, paper, wallpaper, carpeting and other fibrous materials. You might not even notice that your own home is aging faster than you are!
Driving a lot of nails on your wall for posters, art pieces, and pictures, makes your wall look like its got freckles. If you have a fiber glass wall, fingerprints, although not a serious threat, can build a mark on the wall. Mildew and molds are fungi that grow in the walls of your house. Water is always the culprit of mildew and molds so you often see them in walls adjacent to the kitchen stove, sink, and bathroom. Hanging pictures on your walls using adhesives isnt advisable either. Over time, adhesives stick to the paint and other materials in your wall. When you remove the adhesives, the paint comes away with it and your wall turns to an abstract form of visual art that isnt too pleasing to anyones eyes.
Be prepared for these damages in your walls. Invest in high quality cement, bricks, wood, glass, and panels for your walls. No matter what your wall is made of, it should stand against strong forces of nature. Contact a local architect or a good carpenter and discuss with him how to make your walls durable. For deteriorating walls due to termites, find a reliable termite exterminator. Have him explain to you how these termites came feasting on your walls and ask for tips on how to prevent them.
If you are planning to hang paintings and photos, do not hammer nails on your wall immediately. Make sure the paintings are symmetrically aligned with one another first, to avoid removing nails that are not placed properly. This helps reduce boring of unnecessary holes. Use a pencil to outline the nail holes you are about to drill. If you have some friends with you, have them hold up the paintings where the penciled marks are and from a distance you can judge if they are aligned well. Never use adhesives when placing photos. In time they could come loose destroying your picture and picture frame. They could also peel off the paint on the wall while theyre at it.
Fingerprints, together with dead insects and spider webs on your fiber glass wall are easy to remove. Use a dish cloth with water and some soap, and then scrub the wall into a squeaky clean look. For mildew, a special mildew and mold erasing solution will do the trick.
Taking care of your house, keeping it safe and in pristine condition makes for a beautiful home. Sturdy and appealing walls add to its aesthetics keeping family members happy, secure, and relaxed.
