How to Identify a "Star Wars" R2 Droid
- 1). Observe the stature of the unit. According to the Starwars.com website, R2 droids stand at a diminutive 0.96 meters. This means R2 units only come to about waist height on most human males.
- 2). Check the shape of the droid. The main body of R2 droids is a rough cylinder, designed to fit into astromech sockets on the "Star Wars" universe's military starfighters, including X-Wing and Y-Wing model fighters. The head of R2 units are dome-shaped.
- 3). Examine the droid's dome. According to the Hasbro website, R2 units have sensors that incorporate numerous detectors. This sensor appears as an eye or eyes on an R2 droid's dome.
- 4). Count the "legs." R2 droids are equipped with two to three "legs" to support the unit. Rolling treads located on the bottom of the droids's "feet" facilitate movement. R2 units don't have exterior arms, but utilize multiple appendages, sensors and devices that exit the main body of the unit via sliding panels when needed. R2-D2 used a fire extinguisher, fusion cutter and more during the "Star Wars" movies.
