The first type which is the Dwarf Russian Hamster is the best-selling hamster breed in pet stores.
They are smaller in size compared to other types and regarded to be very active.
This breed is always on the go and are frequently seen roaming inside their tunnels, working out on their wheel or playing with their toy ball.

Golden Hamster or Syrian hamster is a bigger hamster compared to Dwarf and Roborovski hamsters.
This breed is fit for first time pet owner particularly kids.
This hamster breed is thought to be the most pleasing and most tamable hamster among its kind.
If you will choose this kind then you have to know first their basic characteristics.
First, they are solitary pets.
They detest having fellow hamsters around except during mating season and they tend to be violent leading to death at times.
They are considered to be highly territorial.
Second, although they are larger in size, they are normally thought of as lazy pets because they love to eat and sleep.
Contrary to this, golden hamster like to run on exercise wheels so if you were to choose this hamster, it is best to incorporate your cage with a larger exercise wheel rather than the regular one which is suitable only for dwarf hamster.
