Dicyclomine should be taken about 30 to 60 minutes before meals. If you take a dose before bedtime, the dose should be given around 2 hours after your last meal. Your physician may initially prescribe a low dose of this medication and slowly increase your dose to a therapeutic level.

This medication can cause a fever or heat stroke due to a side effect of decreased sweating if used while in hot or humid environments. If you experience these serious side effects contact your physician or, if severe, seek emergency medical attention.
