Your Power - Right Now
For a long time I have studied and strived to incorporate living in the moment in my life.
Eckhart Tolle, author and teacher has written The Power of Now and most recent book A New Earth.
He has given us great teaching and guidance about living the power of the now.
This week I personally find myself living in the midst of the lesson of the present moment.
Situations are happening for reasons beyond which my personal control has no power over.
I recognize that this lesson is a big one for me.
It comes up with regularity in my life, often feeling like the waves of the ocean.
The surf pounds the beach with one oversize wave, followed by several smaller, gentler waves.
Then comes the big one, pushing the tide level further upon the beach, again with the smaller surf following.
This rhythm continues over and over, not changing remarkably.
Of course there are storms that alter this tempo, causing the big wave to be bigger and more forceful, pushing the tide higher upon shore.
The tidal tempo continues as it has ceaselessly.
I am reminded that life is a lot like the tide.
The waves of Earth's oceans are a reflection of life's cadence.
How often I see my life move along smoothly; I'm feeling pretty good physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally.
Then often without warning, that bigger wave sneaks up on me.
I often express these situations as "blind-siding me".
I just don't see it coming as life really grabs my attention.
Then I immediately become more aware of what's going on in my world, or within my circle of friends and family, the world, my spiritual life.
I rouse and pay more attention to my Now.
I listen, meditate and mull situations and messages coming to me.
As situations become clearer and I receive more understanding, I am then lulled into complacency and a sort of routine again.
The tug and pull of that large wave diminishes and I once again rest in the usual smaller tides of life.
From time to time I am more aware that my general direction is one of forward movement.
As I study the influence of living each moment of life in that moment, I see that were I to really accomplish that, my life in general would progress more smoothly and I would be aware moment-by-moment of what I was doing.
I wouldn't struggle so much to make things happen, wasting energy over what has been and what might be coming.
I could cherish each happy smile, conversation, and situation.
I would feel more energetic and live in peaceful harmony with nature, animals, creatures, and all beings.
Here is a quote from Abraham that seems to say it all: "Everything in its perfect time.
Everything is unfolding.
And I'm enjoying where I am now, in relationship to where I'm going.
Content where I am, and eager for more.
" The Teachings of Abraham remind us to go with the flow of life, allowing our canoe to drift downstream.
As we focus on our now, put down our oars, and no longer struggling upstream against the current of life we will find a more peaceful, happy, harmonious, loving and wise place.
When our children were young each morning as my husband took them to school, they all recited this saying: "I am healthy, happy, harmonious, peaceful, loving, wise, strong, prosperous, and...
financially independent.
"In later years he added: "I am energetic, enthusiastic and joyous.
" That's living in the Now!
