- 1). Place the stocking wig cap over a wig block. A wig block is used for creating hairstyles on wigs and storing hair pieces, such as wigs and toupees. You can find a wig cap at your local beauty supply store. Place pins on the top edge and the back edges to keep the wig on the block in sturdy to add weave hair easily on the stocking cap.
- 2). Gather the extension hair, needle and thread. Make sure your thread is the same hair color as the hair that you are sewing in so the thread can blend in with the extension hair. Double knot the thread into the needle. Comb or brush the hair that you are placing on the cap. The hair must not be tangled, to prevent difficulty sewing the hair onto the cap.
- 3). Place the needle upward threw the weft strip of the track; this is the piece that is mounted at the top of the hair. Place the needle in the bottom edge of the back of the cap, and sew the hair straight across to the other edge of the cap. Once you reach the end of the row, cut the extra weft of hair. Moving upward on the cap, continue to add hair across each row. Stop adding hair when you get to the temple of the cap.
- 4). Sew hair on the cap in a circular pattern. Sew hair into the cap starting from the front right side, turning the track along the middle row by the temple and then turning the track down the left side of the cap. Turn the track straight across the front edge of cap, connecting to the front right side track.
- 5). Continue to add rows of hair in a circular pattern until you reach a hole that is about two inches wide. Create a closure piece by rolling a piece of hair in a circle and sewing the weft into the opening hole.
- 6). Finish the wig by using scissors to style it. Cut hair into a bang if the front hair is too long, or cut hair in layers. Make sure all tracks of hair is secured tightly and that the thread and the tracks of hair are not showing.
