What you learn in a salsa lesson becomes more potent if you practice a lot.
Practice is what sets the mediocre and the superior apart.
Constant practice can help one attain perfection in salsa moves and routine.
Practice does make perfect.
When you practice dance steps, you are able to master intricate dance routines in salsa.
At the start of practice, counting out loud might be necessary since you still need to develop rhythm and timing.
As the practicing progresses, you are able to memorize the steps.
Execution becomes easy and you do not forget the steps anymore.
The body easily remembers a habit.
With continuous practice, one gets used to it and movement becomes automatic.
When you practice, make sure that you are executing the right step or move.
If you commit errors early on, it will be hard to change the step once the habit becomes deeply ingrained.
Better learn things slowly but properly than quickly but you have to undo your mistakes later.
The dance move must be accompanied by correct posture and frame.
These nuances will count in actual performances especially in competitions.
You cannot take little things for granted in salsa dancing.
At the start of the practice choose slow tempo music or dance without one.
Once you get the hang of it, you can use faster music tracks.
Practice should be daily.
Allot a particular time slot so you get to the dancing mode once the time arrives.
Practice for half an hour a day.
If you do not have much time to spare, 5 minutes a day will do.
If the salsa lessons has free rehearsals after then do not go home right away.
Use the time to go through the moves that you learn that day.
This will fix your mind on the steps.
Practice alone at first.
You need to master the steps on your own before you can venture getting a partner.
Pretend to have a partner.
Then do the steps accordingly.
Do the same sequence over and over until you become familiar with the movements and routines.
Find a partner to rehearse with.
A rehearsal partner is important because salsa is a partner dance.
You have to get used to dancing with a partner once you mastered the basic steps.
Dance to several partners.
In class, it will be a great idea to dance with several people.
This will enable to learn to adjust to different dancing skills and levels.
This will expose you to various salsa dancing styles if you dance with various people.
For guys, if you are shy about asking someone to dance then you do not have to say anything to the person.
All you have to do is offer your hand to a woman then lead her to the dance floor.
For ladies, you cannot wait for guys to ask you to dance.
You have to get up and move around.
Sway to the music in the dance floor alone.
Guys will see your passion for salsa and will eventually ask you to dance.
Continue learning.
You can never learn enough salsa.
If you keep attending a salsa lesson, you will pick a new technique or two.
You will also learn variations of the dance.
Attending classes regularly will help you accumulate various dance styles, combination, get the feel of music, proper body movements and other important techniques.
Guys will learn to lead effortlessly.
Women will follow better also.
