Ladybug Pinata Ideas For Your Ladybug Birthday Party
They're great to help the kids get rid of some of their pent up energy...
without doing any damage to your house or each other! With the lure of toys or lollies once it's opened, all the kids are going to be keen to have a go at it.
You have a choice of making your own pinata, or buying a professionally made one from a party supplies store.
The shop bought pinata have a special place, hidden by a sticker, where you're able to fill them with sweets or novelties so you don't need to worry about how you'll fill a pre made one.
If you have the time, or your children are old enough to do it themselves, you can make a large ladybug pinata at home.
All you need is a large balloon, some old newspaper, glue and things to decorate the finished product with - paint, stickers, sequins, crepe paper etc.
Start by blowing up the balloon to the approximate size you want it to be and tie it off.
Tear up small pieces of newspaper (about 2 inches by 2 inches), soak them in your paper mache mixture (equal parts of glue & water) and stick them to the balloon.
Remove any excess glue with your fingers.
Continue adding the newspaper to the balloon - slightly overlapping each piece - until the balloon is almost completely covered.
Just leave the tied end sticking out.
Add several layers of paper to the balloon and then add further layers in the areas where you want to help build the shape of the ladybug.
Allow it to dry for a few days, then you can pop the balloon and remove any excess parts of the balloon.
Once this is done, you can fill the pinata with any novelties or sweets you want.
Then cover the hole with a few sheets of newspaper & glue mix and allow it to dry for a few more days.
Now you're up to the fun part - decorating it.
A coat of red paint, with some black dots, pipe cleaners for antenna and buttons for eyes will have your ladybug pinata looking a treat in no time! If you have time, you and the kids will have great fun making one for their ladybug birthday party, but if you're time poor or it simply sounds like too much work (it can be a bit time consuming), it's probably worth looking at some of the stunning ladybug pinata that the party stores have available.
