The best time to prepare to serve a mission is not six months before a young man turns 19 or young woman turns 21.
The best time to prepare for a mission is when a child is young and full of faith.
LDS missionary art can help inspire young spirits to join the Lord's army and spread the gospel throughout the world.
Various pictures are available through the LDS church distribution center, as well as some outside sources.
These pictures include missionaries donning the armor of God with the Savior in the background, Elders and Sisters traveling through streets in various parts of the world, and missionaries talking with people at their doors.
Any picture that includes an Elder or Sister missionary, or a child contemplating missionary work would be an effective tool for teaching children about missionary service.
Other pictures that would be very inspiring would be actual photographs of friends and family members on missions.
Sitting down with a child a sharing missionary experiences while looking at mission pictures could help develop excitement about serving and developing their own testimonies.
Pictures of great scriptural and church history missionaries are also a good idea.
Children will learn the stories of great men such as Ammon, Alma, or Dan Jones and Parley P.
Pratt.
Their heroes will be those who helped bring the gospel to others, and they will have the desire to do the same.
LDS missionary art can be great tool for home teachers, Sunday school teachers, primary teachers, Aaronic priesthood leaders as well as parents for helping youth desire to serve honorable, full-time missions.
