Extra Shot of Insulin

My friend is a diabetic Out of a job and on state rolls Never fitting in everywhere she goes Accepting her faith as a nemesis from above The medications are always present Trips to the Pharmacy were fairly frequent Trying hard to be a great Parent Realising that her best intentions had limitations There are days she tries to run Only to fall facing the Sun Her strength is faint and that is not fun And her skin slowly changes its tone.
Molly was on my way out and she felt numb She forgot her shots and it was dumb The feeling was crippling comparable to bread crumbs Pieces of her Body simply refused commands I will fight this foe Education has proven to be a vital tool Adhering to the best meals and plans I jump, hide and run through hoops in my backyard The shot of insulin gave me an instant high The energy level was instant and out of sight Alert and able to be the very best can be A miracle juice that makes me feel alright The weight has always been a problem My heart pumps at rates faster than it should My knees are fussing from the daily grind I moan loudly as I slowly move around I am wiser now The carbs have given way to veggies and fruits Less sugar and more salads and healthy juices Suddenly, the fat are dropping before my eyes The best revenge for Diabetes is change My thoughts and the way I view myself Making healthy choices in exchange for Years of a happy and healthy life.
A new dawn is here A bright day shining brighter as it evolves showing promising changes as it revolves The Sun and Moon in equal rotations I realize that I don't have to depend on a daily dose of Insulin To the new me, I say 'cheers'.
