The Who, What, Where And Why Of Eye Gels
No-one wants to get old. The years have a funny way of giving us a taste of youth and then stripping it away slowly right in front of our eyes. Some choose to let the years fade them away, while other choose to try and stop them in their tracks. What if where you lived determined how likely you were to use anti aging products like eye gels or wrinkle creams? A recent poll showed that across southern states, the use of eye gels and other anti aging products is much more wide spread, in comparison to a more urban northern setting in which it more concentrated.
There are a few theories as to why the use of eye gels and wrinkle creams is so wide spread throughout the south. One being that humidity is not all that good for your skin. The hot and wet air does little to help preserve aging skin (which is why retiree's should move to Arizona not Florida). Not to mention the more south you go the hotter and stronger the sun is, therefore doing more damage to your skin no matter how much sun block you use. From a more personal perspective, the "southern bell" is accustomed to looking her best even at an early age, and many of these women have been in many pageants and competitions in which there is no room for error. It makes sense that this mindset would carry on as they age.
The northern states on the other hand are very different. Where eye gel and wrinkle cream use is more wide spread and in rural areas down south, in the north it is more densely concentrated and in more populated area. While people in the suburbs still use anti aging products, it is nowhere near the amount of people in big cities and urban areas. It seems that people up north that live close to or in big populations are a bit more focused on their appearance. That being said one determine that people in more densely populated areas are more likely to associate the notion of "big city life" with the idea of looking younger.
One thing that is not covered and is largely overlooked is how many of the people in these demographics are men? Anti aging products like eye gels and wrinkle creams are usually marketed towards women, while men account for 50% of the whole anti aging market. Northern or southern, men seem to becoming more and more focused on their age and what they can do keep on looking younger. One thing is clear and that is that the anti aging market is growing steadily and showing no signs of slowing down.
