The Coleman Bayside Pop-up Camper, manufactured by Fleetwood Folding Trailers, is a long-time favorite of bare-bones campers. The typical Bayside owner wants to tow a lightweight camper, but arrive with enough indoor living space for the family. Over ten years later, you can still find 1998 Bayside campers in good condition on the resale market. The 1998 Bayside was one of the less-elaborate models of that year's Ultra Glide-Out Series. - The base vehicle weight of the 1998 Coleman Bayside is 2,632 pounds, the heaviest of the Ultra Glide-Out Line at the time. This includes a hitch-weight of 140 pounds. There are 618 pounds of cargo capacity in the camper as well. Closed, the camper measures 7 feet, 3 inches by 19 feet. Opened up, the entire living space measures 25 feet, 9 inches. The living space itself is 178 square feet, with a ceiling clearance of 80 inches. Within the Coleman Bayside there are 43 cubic feet of cabinet storage space.
- The layout of the Coleman Bayside is considered one of the best for pop-up campers. Minor changes and improvements have been made over the years, but the basic design's convenient and efficient use of space have stayed true. The 1998 Bayside can sleep up to 9 people, assuming some doubling-up in the larger beds. Two large beds measure 70 inches by 77 inches; the dinette converts to a bed measuring 35 inches by 74 inches and a third slide-out bed measures 43 inches by 71 inches. A 57-quart capacity refrigerator comes standard with the Bayside, along with a 10-gallon water storage tank. Hot water and an electric water pump serve the sink and outdoor shower.
- A single-panel roof is typical of nearly all Coleman pop-up campers, cutting down on the possibility of leakage or seam tears. Electric Brakes and EZ crank-down stabilizers keep your Bayside secure on the road and at camp without lugging around separate equipment. All Coleman pop-up campers from this series used C78-13ST size tires, and one spare came with the Bayside, although it may no longer be included if you purchase your 1998 model on the resale market. Minor but crucial conveniences including outside storage access and a stepper door are also standard with the 1998 Bayside.
