We know how important exercise can be for people, but it is even more important for a woman is has become pregnant.
Getting regular exercise will help you and the baby stay healthy and help minimize the symptoms and/or problems that arise in pregnancy, such as leg cramps, constipation and morning sickness.
Exercise is great but there are certain precautions you need to take while exercising during pregnancy.
This is because your body is changing making exercise different then it used to be.
Here are things you should keep in mind.
1.
If you haven't bee very active before pregnancy then do not start a rigorous program now.
It is normally safe to start an exercise problem while pregnant but you need to start slow and build your muscles and body to handle more.
2.
Do not get overheated.
It is best to exercise in an temperature controlled room while exercising but still be careful not to get too hot.
3.
Drink plenty of fluids.
While pregnant it is important to get enough liquid, especially while exercising.
The easiest way to do this is to keep a water bottle with you and take a swig from it every couple of minutes.
4.
Eat a well-balanced diet.
You may think this doesn't apply to exercising but it does.
If you eat well you will have more energy to exercise and you and your baby will stay healthy.
5.
Never, ever, ever over do it.
I don't know how to stress this any more.
Make sure you never overdo it.
Exercise is good but it can cause many problems if you try to do too much while pregnant.
If you feel lightheaded, shortness of breath, dizzy or pain then sit and sip some water.
You will also probably want to let your doctor know.
