How to Replace a Sink Compactor
- 1). Disconnecting all hoses leading to your old compactor using your screwdriver and pipe wrench. Insert your screwdriver into the mounting lug located underneath the drain and turn counterclockwise until it's unlocked. Turn the compactor counterclockwise and unthread it from the drain.
- 2). Apply plumbers putty to the threads of your drain. Insert the sleeve of your compactor onto the drain opening. Slide the fiber gasket and backup ring onto this sleeve. Install the upper mounting ring onto the drain. Slide the snap ring into the groove of the upper mounting ring.
- 3). Tighten the mounting screws of the upper portion of the compactor. Place your dispenser against the upper mounting assembly. Turn it clockwise until it's supported by the assembly.
- 4). Attach your compactor disposer discharge tube to the opening located on the bottom of the compactor using the rubber washer and metal flange include with your compactor kit.
- 5). Reattach the water drain pipe to the lower discharge hose of your compactor using a pipe wrench. Make sure that the gasket is in place.
- 6). Insert your screwdriver into the mounting lug on the lower mounting ring of your compactor located right below your sink drain and the very top of your compactor, and turn clockwise until it's locked. Tighten all hose clamps with your screwdriver.
