Gone are the days when Cleveland was called the Mistake on the Lake or The Armpit of America. This revitalized city is bursting with good eats, drinks, shopping and culture all around. It makes a great jumping off point for trips to Sandusky and Cedar Point to the west on Lake Erie. There are plenty of good reasons to visit these days, and far more worth doing and seeing than visitors could pack into a week. - Cedar Point's 17 rollercoasters draw visitors from around the world.rollercoaster image by Christopher Nolan from Fotolia.com
Ride them sitting, standing, swinging, soaking or screaming. Cedar Point is the self proclaimed "Rollercoaster Capital of the World," with 17 coasters as of 2010. Four of the parks coasters top 200 feet, but Cedar Point is more than just a coaster lovers' mecca. The 364-acre park sits on a peninsula surrounded on three sides by Lake Erie. It has more rides (75 as of 2010) than any amusement park in the country, plus indoor and outdoor water parks and a mile-long beach on the shore of Lake Erie. Amusement Today has ranked it the "Best Amusement Park in the World" for 11 consecutive years.

cedarpoint.com - If the once-burning Cuyahoga River is an emblem of Cleveland's "Armpit of America" days, the shimmering glass Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the city's revamped North Coast Harbor is monument to what it has become. The museum's two glass pyramids house a history of recording greats from artists to producers, spanning seven floors. Permanent exhibits explore the evolution of popular music decade by decade, examining music scenes from Memphis in the 1950s to Seattle in the 1990s. The building is packed with eye-candy, music memorabilia and autographs.
