My name is Pamela. My little angel, Maya was born August 21, 1997. She is my first and only child. When I found out I was pregnant my whole outlook on life changed. I found out when I was already 8 weeks along. There were really no complications to talk about, but I will always remember the day she was born.
The original due date was August 15th and since we went past that, the OB suggested that I come in and have the baby's heart monitored to make sure she was okay.

I always knew it was a girl. So we go in 9am and her heart is strong and she moved but not a whole lot, there wasn't much room in there. So when we get an ultrasound they see that the fluid around the baby is getting low. Without them telling me, I knew I was going to have the baby today. Her father is with me and he was so calm so far.

So I'm checked into the hospital and they give me medicine to soften my cervix. I was having NO signs of contractions. So by 4pm, I'm hungry and anxious and they decide to induce labor. So the doctor went in to break the water bag. Nothing. I guess she loved it in there. THEN I go to the bathroom and I'm on the toilet and the first contraction hit. It was a pain unlike no other. It knocks me off the throne and I'm on my knees when my fiance and the nurse come back. I wrapped my arms around the nurses waist and begged her to help me. So they but me back in bed. My mother and fiance are in the room with me. So after the pain and the pushing and me hollering at the doctor to stop tugging at me down there (hey Dr.

Pena), Maya was born at 10:47pm, 7lbs 11oz. A head FULL of soft black curls, no eyebrows. I saw Rob hugging my mom. I knew then that it was a magical night. I was in total awe. I never cried until I got her home because that is when life really began for us. Babies ARE gifts from God.
