I found out about this campground by doing a search of campgrounds in St. Louis, Missouri. I RV camped there in June 2007.
Describe your camping trip:
We picked this campground while we were camping in Branson, because we wanted a stopping ground for one night to break up the long trip home. When we first stopped outside of the facility, my husband and I were looking at each other and thinking, "do we really want to stay here?"
Pros: The owners are very friendly and help you to get a taxi, if you need one. It's a 5-10 minute drive to the Arch, which is one of the reasons we picked this campground. Bathrooms appeared clean. They do have a pool. There is a tall six-foot fence and a security gate that the owners lock up at 11:00pm. We were told that guests that arrive after 11:00pm can still get in.
Cons: It looks like it was a parking lot that was converted to a campground. Mind you the place was full up of all sorts of RVs, but there wasn't a blade of grass to be found. We decided to stay there, because it was only for one night. The area you have to drive through to get to the campground leaves a lot to be desired. If you don't mind the "boom boom" sound of the radios, you will do fine there.
Nearby attractions: St. Louis Arch, various restaurants, large river paddleboat rides, helicopter tours, horse drawn carriage rides.
Further comments:
This place is really only good for a one night stay. The other campgrounds are about 20-30 miles away from downtown St.
Louis.
