How to Aid Golf Impact Training

    Using Impact Training

    • 1). Choose the impact training method you feel most comfortable with. Speak with other golfers to determine if there is a recommended aid to use. If not, you can choose from impact tape, impact dust or an impact spray.

    • 2). Apply the training aid to the golf club head. This means either dusting, spraying or taping the surface area on the club that makes contact with the golf ball.

    • 3). Hit the ball. Observe where the ball went versus where it was intended.

    • 4). Look at the spot on the golf head where you made contact.

    Aiding Impact Training

    • 1). Practice your swing with a weighted club to slowly practice proper form. This teaches muscles the proper alignment and movements needed to make the adjustments.

    • 2). Work on your swing in front of a mirror. Pay special attention to the club face at the point of hypothetical "impact."

    • 3). Use other training aids such as stretch bands around your triceps to help keep your arms together during a swing. The foot wedge helps keep your weight properly distributed on the right foot (for right-handers). Use these with impact training to see if better contact is made.

    • 4). Record your swing while using the impact training aid. Be sure to note where impact was made so when you review the swing on television you can see the result and pinpoint where the swing went wrong.

    • 5). Enlist the help of a professional golf instructor to help you adjust your grip, stance and swing according to the feedback provided by the impact training.
