Instructions on Using the Breitling Navitimer Watch
- Untwist the central knob on the right side of the face, moving the dial counterclockwise and out of its secure position so that it is in the winding position. The knob will pop free when you have twisted far enough. Grip the knob and pull until you feel it click one notch outward. This first notch is the setting for the date; twist the knob to move the day to the proper number. Know that you cannot twist backward; if you pass a number you will need to complete another rotation and return to the correct date if you miss it the first time.
Carefully grip the knob and pull once more to feel it settle into the second and farthest position. This farthest position sets the hour and minute of your watch.Turn the knob to move the hour hand and set the proper time. Press in on the knob against the spring until you feel it hit the base. Without removing the pressure, twist clockwise to secure the knob. Wait to verify that your second hand begins moving, indicating that your watch is keeping the correct time.
For chronometer models, the the top button will begin and stop timing, and the bottom button will reset the timers. - Always keep the paperwork that came in the watch's box in a safe location. The serial number and the documentation will be important for repairs, resale and service. Bring your watch into the store for any repairs requiring mechanical adjustments. This includes wristband alterations; models of the Navitimer were made in both linked and solid straps. If your Navitimer has links, they will be alterable and held in place by small pins. These pins are best removed and adjusted by a jeweler or watch technician so as not to damage the quality and value of your Navitimer watch. Bring your timepiece in for free adjustments where you purchased the watch, or to another authorized retailer.
