  Burwell is a town located in the part of Nebraska known as Sandhill Country in the north-central part of the state. A big attraction in Burwell is the Calamus Lake and Reservoir, which is a favorite for fishermen and boaters. Another draw is the Nebraska Big Rodeo at the Burwell Rodeo Grounds. • Situated half a mile from the Calamus Lake and Reservoir, Calamus Lodge has a motel with eight rooms and a small cabin. All of the rooms come with individually controlled heat and cooling, small refrigerators, microwaves and coffeemakers. All rooms and the cabin also contain showers. Guests can also opt to stay on its campground, which has 25 full hookup RV sites as well as primitive sites. Opened in 2004, Calamus Lodge has a restaurant in which patrons can dine in the building or order takeout. The restaurant has a full-service bar and a salad bar and serves American-style meals. Breakfast is available only on the weekends. A large room is available for parties, meetings and weddings.
