How to Make a Sphere Out of Plexiglass
- 1). Lay out a piece of construction paper and draw your desired shape of a sphere on the paper with a black marker so it is easily visible. Cut out the shape with a pair of scissors.
- 2). Remove the plastic film from both sides of a sheet of Plexiglas. Peel it back at the corners. Set the Plexiglas on a flat and even surface. Place the sphere onto a sheet of Plexiglas large enough for the whole object to fit. Tape it to the surface of the Plexiglas with tape.
- 3). Trace over the shape on the Plexiglas with a grease pencil. Go around the entire sphere with the pencil. Push down firmly so it is visible to cut with a utility knife. Remove the sphere and the Scotch tape from the surface of the Plexiglas.
- 4). Score along the grease marks with a utility knife. Move the knife back and forth in small sections ranging from 1-2 inches. Continue until the utility knife scores through the piece and go on to the next area. Cut with the utility knife along the entire shape of the sphere until it is loose enough to be pulled out.
- 5). Wipe off the edges of the sphere shape with a clean rag and measure the piece to verify the proper size was cut.
