Self-Defence - Become Street Smart.
Stronger laws on weapons and long waiting periods for legal licensing has not stop any crime yet. It has only ensure that the law abiding citizen cannot have their own weapon with them or have to struggle to get to it when in trouble. Most of the time, the only weapon we have to protect ourselves, is ourselves. Learning self-defence can make the difference between life and death.
Our first reaction when attacked, is to panic. In a stress state one cannot think straight. One should be capable of coaching the brain what to do in a threatening situation before it happens. Your assailant is anticipating you to panic, to be scared and to do as your told.
By signing up for self-defence courses (or at least reading up about it) you can practice different situations in save surroundings. You can coach your brain what steps you need to follow when in specific situations.
It is important to practice self-defence techniques. It must come as a natural reaction when attacked. Bear in mind your attacker does not care for your life. You are the only one that can protect yourself.
Here is a few easy things to remember:
* Carry pepperspray with you - it can give you the couple of seconds you need to get away
* Have your car keys/house keys so that one large key protrudes through your fist - you can use it to stab your attacker in the face/neck/ chest
* Under no circumstances should one walk in a deserted area alone
* Be alert at all times- if you think you are being followed, go into a busy shopping centre or to the nearest police officer if possible.
