How to Warm Water With Heated Stones
- 1). Collect several medium-size stones. Choose non-porous stones that can withstand high temperatures, such as basalt, granite or quartz.
- 2). Fill a boil-safe container with water. If a container is unavailable, use a leather bag.
- 3). Start a fire. Once the fire reaches fruition, place half of the stones directly in the hot coals. Allow them to heat for approximately 15 minutes.
- 4). Remove the rocks, one-by-one, using tongs or wearing heat-resistant gloves. If these items are unavailable, grab the stones with sticks or pieces of antlers. Knock the rocks on a larger rock to remove ash and place them in the water.
- 5). Set the other half of the stones in the fire. After 15 minutes, remove the original stones from the water and replace them with the freshly heated stones. Return the original stones to the water. Continue rotating the stones until the water is heated. For purification purposes, boil water for at least 5 minutes.
