Norwegian Spirit Cruise Review - Bermuda and the Virgin Islands
Cruise Line: Norwegian Cruise Lines
Cruise Ship: Norwegian Spirit
Cruise Destination: Bermuda, St. Thomas, Tortola
Cruise Dates: September 3, 2006

We just returned from a cruise aboard the Norwegian Spirit which departs out of New York. I have taken 2 cruises on Carnival Cruise Lines previous to this trip and had higher expectations. To begin, Norwegian tacks on $10/day per person for gratuity.
The staff was extremely rude, from the cabin stewards, waitstaff, to the casino dealers and bartenders. It was a complete disappointment to be honest. Usually crew members make you feel special and at least greet you. We would say hello, and get no response. At night, we were never left animals made of towels or any of the things that make the cruise memorable. In addition to already paying about $90 per person for tips, when a drink is ordered, they automatically tack on an additional gratuity. We did however prefer the option of the freestyle cruising for dining.
The food was average and selection was not diverse. The same thing was served daily for breakfast and every other day for lunch and dinner.
I would also not recommend booking an excursion when you go onto the islands. They are extremely expensive and not at all worth the money you pay.
