  New Jersey is the most densely-populated state in the U.S. It's close to New York City and Philadelphia. Hundreds of thousands of people visit the Jersey Shore each summer. Sierra Club Singles

• Environmentally conscious singles can find kindred spirits at the New Jersey Sierra Club's Singles Section. Events include hikes, picnics, get-togethers, cultural activities, and clean-ups, and take place throughout the state. Ages range from 30's to 60's. Sierra Club membership is suggested, but not required. At social outings, a small fee may be charged to non-Sierra Club members for operational expenses. Monthly socials held in Morristown and Montclair.

Harriman Hikers

• Since 1974, the Harriman Hikers, a New Jersey and New York singles club for hikers, has been meeting up at Ramapo College, Mahwah, on Sunday mornings. There is no formal club to join, and each hike charges a nominal fee. Held year-round, any single, separated, divorced,or widowed person is eligible. Hikes are intermediate level, roughy seven to eight miles. About 30 people join the hike weekly, with their ages ranging from 20's to retired people. There's a mix of new and seasoned hikers. In summer, the group hikes to a lakeside, while in the winter the hikes lead to local cabins where participants can sit beside the fire, while eating lunch. Hikes take place in both New Jersey and New York state parks.

Jewish Community Center of Western Monmouth

• Jewish singles from all over the state attend the Jewish Community Center of Western Monmouth's (JCCWM) monthly singles discussion night, along with other activities offered. Events are offered for those aged 25 to 35; 35 to 55; and those 55 and over. Their website states that they have established a national reputation in programming for singles, and advise other Jewish Community Centers in the development of these programs.
