Video: Having Good Mental Capacity for Cross Country Running
Video Transcript
Hi, my name is Peter. I'm with Expert Village today I'm going to talk to you about cross country running. In this section we're going to talk about your mental capacity and as far as being a team with that all entails. As on a team you have about four people, so basically what you want to do is when you go out to a event you guys are going to go run as a team. You're only as strong as your weakest person, what I mean by that is you can have four people, there could be two really strong fast people and two slow people the race is not finished for that team until the last person comes in. So typically what you want to do as a team is usually partner up in two's to make it simplified and so let's say I'm a pretty strong runner, my partner he's strong as well but maybe a little bit slower. Then we want to partner up and run together because then I'm going to be able to push him in a way that he hasn't been pushed before and he'll get used to it. Then when we go out there together as a team of four, then you can really beat up on all the other teams, a lot of times people think individually and everyone is out for themselves. When that happens you see a lot of the teams just kind of fade off and end up getting last place and not end up winning. As well as mentally and a key note is to stay positive and extremely positive rain, shine no matter how hot or cold it is outside just know in your head that you guys are there as a team, you are prepared together. Run different courses of that nature just stay really positive and focus stay together knowing that your partner is there. That way it's another reason cause it's called a team because if you already have a partner then you guys know how you're running and you guys can stay with each other and push each and talk through as you run.
