How to Decorate a Cake With Trees
- 1). Coat the entire cake in white icing. Try to keep the icing on the top of the cake smooth.
- 2). Use a toothpick to draw out the outlines of leaves, branches, and tree trunks. This is a great way to plan your tree decorations before you apply the color, making it easy to fix mistakes.
- 3). Mix the red and green gel icing together on a paper plate, if you don't have brown gel icing. Add more red than green for a reddish brown, or more green for an earthier, darker brown.
- 4). Using the brown icing, follow all the lines of the tree trunks and branches that you drew with the toothpick. If you blended your brown on a paper plate, use the toothpick to pick up some of the blended gel icing and apply it to the cake.
- 5). Outline the leaves on the trees with the green gel. Fill in the outline with more green gel to complete the decoration.
