Silver Gate, nestled high in Montana's stretch of the Rocky Mountains, is known for rugged outdoor activities and wildlife watching. The town, which hugs the border with Wyoming, is located one mile from the northeast gate of Yellowstone National Park, and three miles from larger neighbor Cooke City. The area is thus often called Cooke City-Silver Gate.
