How to Make a Rainbow Pinata
- 1). Inflate all of the balloons and knot them.
- 2
Tape the two 646 balloons (long oval balloons, pictured) together side by side. Tape the three round balloons together side by side as well. Tape the 646 balloons to the top of the round balloons. When you are done it should like sort of like a top hat. - 3
Mix one part flour with two parts water. This will create the papier-mache paste. - 4). Cut or tear the newspaper into strips. You'll need a lot of strips to make your piñata.
- 5
Dip the newspaper strips, one at a time, into the paste and smooth them out onto the balloons. You want to completely cover the balloons with the newspaper. - 6). Give the paper plenty of time to dry. This will require leaving the piñata over night.
- 7). In the mean time, cut all the tissue paper into 1-by-1 inch squares. The size can be approximate, you don't have to actually measure them.
- 8). Cut a small opening in the top of the piñata so you are able to fill it with candy when you are done making it.
- 9
Water down the white glue and use the craft brush to cover an area of the piñata with glue. - 10
Put the eraser of the pencil in the center of one square of white tissue paper and then push up the sides of the paper around the pencil. Place the tissue paper covered eraser to the glue on the piñata, and the tissue paper should come off the pencil and stick to the piñata. The corners of the tissue paper should be sticking up. - 11
Repeat steps 9 and 10 with different colors of tissue paper in lines until the entire piñata is covered. The bottom of the piñata where the round balloons were should be white to look like a cloud. The long straight part of the piñata should be striped with the other colors to look like a rainbow.
