Lotto Winning Number

If you want to find the latest winning Lotto numbers then you can - look no further than the internet for your answers. Many people who want to choose the winning Lotto numbers want to play using a pattern or following some kind of scientific formula - this is understandable - Mathematicians and statisticians believe too that you can do certain things to make choosing the winning numbers more likely.

Others think that predication is impossible and random is best. We could argue though, that unless a machine is picking or us, no choice of handpicked numbers can truly be random - we are always in some way influenced by the things around us. For example, the most popular number choices for entering the lottery is birthdays - then ages, then lucky dates. Therefore even when we think we are being random, we are actually choosing numbers that are important to us, or that we are used to seeing. If you want to be completely random try using the Lucky Dip option (in the UK) or whatever option your lottery gives you when you want the machine to make the random choice for you. You can also pick numbers out of a hat or use internet sources to pick out some random numbers.

Choosing the winning lotto numbers sometimes leads us to think about whether we can actually control what numbers are drawn or if we are often closer to winning than we think because of near misses. For example, many people may have experienced the situation where numbers are drawn, but they are close to what we picked. For example we may have chosen 18, 38, 42 but 19, 36 and 41 are drawn. We are more likely to look at these numbers and think that we were very close and in fact, the next time we play, we may be able to hit the right ones. Or sometimes we may look at near misses and think, why didn't we just choose one number higher or lower? Although it may be tempting to wonder if we made a mistake, its worth remembering that drawn numbers generally are random and therefore, we can't control what was going to come out.

Previously drawn lotto balls generally speaking shouldn't have an effect on what comes out in future draws although we could logically say that the chances of the same thing coming out again is unlikely - for example the 38 ball in the UK lotto is very very popular, so should we choose this again? Maybe, but there's nothing to say that its popularity has run out and it may never get picked ever again! So sometimes looking at what is usually drawn is not the best way to decide which numbers to pick although you can certainly study patterns and work with these. Choosing a group of 6 numbers for example, may not give you six matching numbers (or it may) but it may give you three or four matches which is still enough to take home a prize!
