    • 1). Place the tent in an area where the ground is flat. Do not put the tent at the bottom of any hills or sloping areas in case of rain. The grass should be mowed and ensure the ground is pliable enough for pushing tent stakes into the ground. The day's weather should also be a consideration as is sun location at the time of the party.

    • 2). Remove the party tent from its bag and place the tent in the center of the area you wish to use. Insert the tent poles into the their corresponding holes within the tent fabric, starting at the top of the tent and working your way down to the ground. Insert the tent stakes into their corresponding holes in the tent fabric and hammer into the ground.

    • 3). Decorate the tent area and your backyard; decorations can be simple or ornate, depending on preference. Theme parties are one option; decorate with items you would use for an indoor party. Tape or fasten decorations if it is a windy day.

    • 4). Rent or purchase outdoor light fixtures if the party is at night. Prepare as much food as possible before the party begins to minimize work during the actual party. Place tables and chairs under the tent as necessary. Cover with table cloths and set up place settings and centerpieces if desired.

    • 5). Set up the grill or clean your outdoor fireplace if you have one. Place food items like chips, pretzels, vegetables and dip out on a buffet table as close to party time as possible to avoid attracting insects and animals. Fill a large basin or tub with ice if using a keg.
