Girls

• Find an illustrative image of a bat in flight or intricate spider web and download it. Cut out the image and set aside. Delve into your closet or dresser for a v-neck t-shirt. Trace the image onto the front yoke of the shirt and define it with a fine white fabric marker.
  
  Acquire a black mini skirt. Attach silver grommets around the bottom, approximately one inch above the hem. Alternately, sew tulle to make a ruffle under the hemline. Add a pair of black fishnet stockings.
  
  Dig out a cast-off pair of black pumps. Paint skulls, gray stripes or other Gothic designs along the top and sides with fabric paint.
  
  

Guys

• Begin with a pair of skinny black jeans and a black long or short sleeved t-shirt. Sew "D" rings downward from the front shoulders or insert silver studs or spikes at an angle along the front. Start from the right shoulder and end at the middle bottom. Alternatively embellish a black button down shirt with lace at the neck and wrists.
  
  Wear either slip-on sneakers with hand-sketched black-and-white Gothic images or a pair of lace-up black combat boots, the higher the better.
  
  

Accessories

• Sling thick belts on hips and wear black wristbands with studs or spikes. Dangle chains clipped from the front belt loop to the backside of a pair of skinny jeans. Add chunky silver jewelry with skulls, spiders or snakes. Cut off fingertips from black opera gloves and affix studs along the gloves.
  
  

Hair and Makeup

• Be liberal with pomade. Arrange you hair in a "bed head" mode or spike it up. Use temporary hair color in traditional Goth black or take an artistic approach. Try streaks of bubble gum pink, blackish purple or emerald green.
  
  Apply makeup flawlessly. It should be polished but original. Coordinate the colors with hair and wardrobe.
  
  Make the illusion that you are pale with a base foundation that is a shade lighter than your own skin. Then, no matter the gender, accentuate facial features with liquid eyeliner and paint your nails black. Emphasize the look with heavy eye shadow in hues such as red and teal or choose a smoky gray palette. It can be subtle or dramatic.
  
  Girls should apply vampire red or deep violet lipstick. Beautify with fake piercings and/or tattoos, but do not overdo it.
