Boating at Santa Rosa State Park in New Mexico
- The park is in the eastern part of the state, seven miles north of the town of Santa Rosa. The lake, which is on the Pecos River, is a massive 3,800 acres of water surface compared to the 500-acres of land at the park. When the conditions are ideal for boating the average depth of the lake reaches 30 to 40 feet. The lake is four miles long and the largest section of it stretches three miles wide.
- Areas near the docks, main campgrounds, the Pecos River Canyon and the northern and northeastern arms of the lake are considered "no wake" zones--only idle speeds are allowed in these areas. The eastern part of the lake is open and generally better suited for water sports; there are many ghost trees and brush that line the side of the lake, particularly by the entry to the Pecos River Canyon on the north side.
- As of Fall 2010, there is one ramp and one dock on the lake, both located next to Juniper Park Camping Area. The ramp has four 14-feet wide launching lanes. No more than five boats can use the courtesy dock at a time.
