How to Replace the Bearings in Inline Skates
- 1). Wipe off the axles with a cloth to remove any dirt or grime, then use an Allen wrench to loosen the axle of the front wheel. Slide out the axle pieces and set aside. Insert a bearing tool, or another similar tool should one not be available, and pull out the bearing. Do the same for the other side of the wheel. Discard the old bearings.
- 2). Dab the new bearing with bearing lube oil and press it into the wheel hole until firm. Wipe away any excess oil. Do the same for the opposite side of the wheel. Insert the wheel back into the skate chassis, reinsert the axle and tighten with the Allen wrench.
- 3). Repeat the process, working one wheel at a time to avoid confusion, until all the bearings have been replaced on all the wheels.
