How to Increase Pin Carry
- 1). Hold the bowling ball a few inches higher than normal. When walking toward the foul line, raise the ball slightly outward and away from you to start you arm swing. This will increase the momentum of the ball as it travels down the lane.
- 2). Line up properly. Avoid unnecessary head and upper-body movement as you approach the foul line. This will give you the best chance of staying balanced through your slide out and follow-through.
- 3). Loosen up. Relax your leg and arm muscles during your release to gain maximum speed on your ball. Tense muscles will slow down your release and reduce your pin carry.
- 4). Follow through completely. After releasing the ball down the lane, act as if you still have the ball in your hands by continuing to move your hand and arm forward and upward until it stops naturally. This will increase the speed and balance of your shot, increasing pin carry.
- 5). Put spin on the ball. Turn the ball rapidly to the side as you release. This will take some practice to perfect. A spinning ball thrown down the lane will curve in the latter stages of the lane, causing it to impact at an angle and increase pin carry.
