Requirements for Travel to Fiji
- Visitors need a valid passport that will be valid for at least 3 months beyond their stated departure date. It is always wise, no matter your destination, to make sure your passport will be valid for at least a few months after your plan to return home, just in case of an emergency or unanticipated delay.
- Visitors are granted a 4-month visa on arrival, but they must show an outward-bound ticket and sufficient funds "to facilitate duration of stay," an amount determined by immigration officials.
- Visitors can apply for an extension up to 6 months, again providing proof of ticket out of Fiji and ability to fund their stay in the island nation.
- Many visitors to Fiji arrive by private boat and must seek permission to drop anchor at their first port of entry in the archipelago. The Fijian embassy and tourist sites detail the protocol for seafaring visitors (see links in References).
- No specific vaccinations are required, but if a visitor has been in a country suffering a yellow fever outbreak within the previous 5 days, a yellow fever shot is required.
