  Brandenburg is a town located in Northern Kentucky and along the Ohio River. Promoting itself as the "Gateway to the Heartland of Kentucky," the town features a main street that leads directly to the river along with a historic downtown district with shops and restaurants. One chain hotel is located in the town, along with two hotels in buildings that date back to the 19th century.

• The Super 8 Brandenburg hotel is one mile from the boat docks on the Ohio River, 15 minutes from Fork Knox and less than three minutes from a country club with a nine-hole golf course. Free amenities at the Super 8 Brandenburg include a continental breakfast each morning and high-speed Internet access. A pet-friendly hotel, the Super 8 also has suites with whirlpools, microwaves and refrigerators. The hotel is on the southern end of Brandenburg and along a road that loops around the city. The boating and fishing opportunities at Doe Run Lake are approximately two miles to the east.

Doe Run Inn

• The Doe Run Inn is a bed-and-breakfast establishment with a dining facility that was named as one of the signature restaurants for Kentucky cuisine by the Kentucky Department of Travel. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a brunch on Sundays. The Doe Run has 11 rooms, along with a cabin where guests can stay overnight. Some of its rooms have four-poster beds.
  
  The Doe Run Inn building was originally known as Stevenson's Mill. Part of it was constructed in about 1780. Each wall is more than 24-inches thick and includes limestone from the area. After shutting down as a mill, it reopened in 1901 and became a popular destination for guests, who came to drink sulfur water considered to have healing powers. Some of the pumps used to draw sulfur water are still on the grounds. Discount rates are available for groups and catering can be requested.

Olin Guest House

• The Olin Guest House in the Brandenburg Inn was constructed in 1880 and is part of a Colonial style Inn that overlooks the state of Indiana and the Ohio River. The tree-lined property offers plenty of privacy and serenity with a large lawn. The five bedrooms in the hotel feature amenities such as four-poster beds, fireplaces, fine linens and individual furnishings.
  
  The inn also hosts events such as weddings, bridal showers and birthday parties. The rooms are affordable, including a honeymoon suite that was listed at $100 per night in the summer of 2010. Some of its rooms are less expensive. The Olin Guest House will also help arrange catering for anyone who is planning an event on its premises. Large pillars flank the steps in front of the house.
